Instagram, LinkedIn, or YouTube? My Honest Beginner’s Journey to Choosing the Right Platform
The Overwhelming Beginning.
I still remember the exact day I decided to take digital marketing seriously. I had just finished watching a webinar about personal branding, feeling super inspired. With all this new motivation, I opened a fresh notebook and confidently wrote on the top page, “Aysha Batool, Digital Marketer & Founder of FATAASH.” Then I stared at the page… and froze.
Where was I supposed to start?
Table of Content
I spent hours Googling things like “Best platform to grow your brand” and “Should I start with Instagram or YouTube?” Every expert had a different opinion. It felt like I was being pulled in three directions at once. If you’re feeling unsure, overthinking, or stuck, I want to walk you through what I experienced. This blog isn’t based on theory. It’s my honest journey of figuring out which platform worked for me, what challenges I faced, and how I slowly found my voice.
Instagram: Visual Vibes & Fast Growth.
I started with product photos, behind-the-scenes reels, and tips for brides-to-be. Some reels reached 3,000 to 300k views. It felt exciting to see how visual content helped build trust in our work. DMs became personal spaces where real brides connected with us. Sales started coming in. But not everything was smooth. The algorithm kept shifting. One post reached thousands; the next barely touched a hundred. I felt like I was always chasing trends, learning new audio, and perfecting the grid. It got exhausting. While Instagram gave visibility, it didn’t always lead to deep connections or consistent conversions.
If your work involves visuals, like fashion, art, food, or décor, and you enjoy creative content, Instagram is a great start. But consistency and flexibility are key.
LinkedIn: Real Conversations & Meaningful Growth.
LinkedIn became a place where I didn’t need perfect pictures or videos. Just honest stories and real conversations. I didn’t go viral, but I did build connections. Some posts even brought unexpected collaborations. Yes, growth is slower here. You need to show up consistently, engage thoughtfully, and share with purpose. But if your goal is to build authority and connect with professionals who care about your voice, LinkedIn is a strong foundation.
YouTube: Deep Trust & Long-Term Impact.
Unlike Instagram, where posts fade in a day, YouTube videos stay searchable and relevant for months. They become part of your long-term story. Building on YouTube takes effort, recording, editing, and consistency. But the connection it creates is genuine. If you enjoy sharing knowledge, teaching, or personal storytelling, YouTube is a great way to grow slowly and meaningfully.
So… where should you start?.
I began with Instagram, where I felt comfortable sharing product visuals. Once I got better at writing about my journey, I shifted toward LinkedIn. And finally, when I was ready to be seen and heard, I showed up on YouTube. The point is, you don’t have to get it perfect. You just have to get it going.
